2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track and Field: Preview, schedule & how to watch live (2024)

The road to the Olympic Games Paris 2024 goes through Eugene, Oregon, for Team USA's track and field stars.

Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is joined by fellow world champions Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson and a cast of who's-who in U.S. athletics with spots for next month's Olympics on the line beginning 21 June at Hayward Field.

The men's 100m is the event that packs the most punch, with the reigning world champion Lyles joined by 2019 winner Christian Coleman, Tokyo Olympic silver medallist and 2022 world champ Fred Kerley, 200m Olympic and world medallist Kenneth Bednarek, as well as Cravont Charleston, the surprise national champion a year ago - among others.

Each of Lyles, Bednarek, Coleman and King are set for the 200m, too, which also features Erriyon Knighton, a two-time world medallist in the event.

Richardson has had a glowing last 12 months, winning the U.S. title on this very track a year ago before going on to claim her first world title in Budapest in August. She also claimed the bronze at Worlds in the 200m, and will look to qualify for the Olympic team in both sprint events in Eugene.

Excellence has followed McLaughlin-Levrone every time she's touched the track in 2024 after a knee issue forced her out of Worlds last year. She threw down world leads for 2024 in both the 400m and 400m hurdles in her respective season debuts for each event, while also impressing last month in the 200m.

She'll compete in only the hurdles at Trials.

Who's who at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field

Who else is set to compete at Hayward Field? A few must-know names are here:

• Rai Benjamin - 400m hurdles: Benjamin won silver at Tokyo behind Karsten Warholm's world record-setting time.
• Ryan Crouser - shot put: The two-time, reigning Olympic champion is the world record holder and has also won the last two world titles. Fellow American Joe Kovacs is a two-time world champ, too, and has claimed silver behind Crouser at the past two Olympics.
• Tara Davis-Woodhall - long jump: Always a crowd favourite, Davis-Woodhall has the second best jump in the world this season.
• Anna Hall - Heptathlon: The 2023 world silver medallist in the event has been working her way back from a bad knee injury and subsequent surgery this year.
• Keni Harrison - 100m hurdles: Harrison won silver in this event in Tokyo, and claimed bronze at Worlds last year in Budapest. Lolo Jones, the three-time Olympian, is a longshot in the event, the 41-year-old with the 25th of 31 qualifying times (13.10).
• Grant Holloway - 110m hurdles: The reigning Olympic silver medallist has one stated goal: Gold in Paris.
• Athing Mu - 800m: Mu has not competed since winning the Diamond League Final in Eugene - in September of last year. A left hamstring injury has been the culprit.
• Chris Nilsen - pole vault: The pole vault should be fun to watch with Nilsen going up against Rio bronze medallist Sam Kendricks and KC Lightfoot. Reigning Olympic champion Katie Moon (formerly Nageotte) is favoured among the women
• Gabby Thomas - 200, 400m: The multi-talented Thomas - on and off the track - is favoured in the 200m but will also lace up in the 400m.
